Bretherdale Hall is situated in a stunning and undiscovered valley. There are walks and cycle rides from the house that can be as long and as challenging as you like.
If you want to venture further, the proximity of the A6, M6 and the A685 can take you into the rest of the Lake district or access the Yorkshire Dales.
Ullswater and Windermere are around 40 mins drive.
Kendal is the nearest town and is to the South West, Penrith to the North. Both are worth a visit for supplies or general interest.
The village of Orton to the East has a Chocolate factory and serves an excellent post hike/cycle Hot Chocolate.
