The Shap Chippie does excellent take out fish and chips. It is about a 15 minute drive (using the M6) from the Hall and Barn. Its opening hours are usually Tuesday to Saturday 1130-1330 and 1630-2000 http://www.shapchippy.co.uk/

Eating Out
In Orton there is the George Hotel Restaurant and Bar https://www.thegeorgehotelorton.co.uk/
Also in Orton is Kennedy's Chocolate Factory, great for a light lunch or hot chocolate https://www.kennedyschocolates.co.uk/

Tebay has The Cross Key http://www.crosskeystebay.co.uk/ and the Barnaby Rudge https://thegoodpubguide.co.uk/pub/ca10+3xg/barnaby+rudge/

Shap has a number of good pubs with restaurants www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/results.shtml/el/Shap%3BCumbria/

There may be other pubs and restaurants I have missed off. This is not intentional and is not intended to be a definitive list or recommendation. Just a starting point

Taxi
A local taxi company is Allens of Eden www.allensofeden.co.uk/ and is based in Tebay

Internet
The property is rural and as a result does not have a particularly good internet connectivity. We at best get 2Mb down load so ok for getting emails and limited web browsing but not for streaming movies.
The elevated position does mean that 3/4G mobile connectivity is reasonable particularly with Vodafone and EE

Access
Useful tip when driving to the property is that the M6 motorway can be reached or left via Tebay services.
